Top 4 Reasons to Spay or Neuter Your Pet

You might be thinking, "Spaying or Neutering your pet is common knowledge for pet owners."

Well, a lot of people are aware of the benefits of spaying and neutering but, don't take the necessary steps to have the procedure done. Many animal shelters now offer low-cost spay and neuter costs to help promote awareness of this issue.

Top Reasons to Spay and Neuter:

#1 Promotes longevity in female pets and helps prevent testicular cancer in males. Also, if done before 6 months of age this will help prevent diseases contracted after the first heat for females.

#2 Better behavior will result from neutering your male pets. I have seen this first hand from my dog walking clients. I noticed a great improvement in one of the male dogs that I walk after he was neutered. He became less aggressive and more attentive toward me. Male dogs naturally want to "mark their territory" usually by peeing in different places; This desire is reduced once your male is neutered.

#3 Good for the community you live in because you will be helping reduce pet overpopulation. In the U.S. we suffer from overpopulation of pets due to over-breeding. By taking the necessary steps to spay or neuter you will help reduce over-breeding. Many dogs and cats end up in the animal shelters or are strays because of people that don't spay or neuter their pets. Unfortunately, just as many are euthanized every year. Don't you want more pet's to have places to call home instead of being in the shelter or euthanized?

#4 More cost effective to spay or neuter your pets than, for the cost of care for a litter of dogs or cats.

The cost to spay and neuter your cats are as low as $45 and the cost to spay or neuter your dogs are as low as $95. It depends on the weight and gender of your dog. If you are living in these areas you can make an appointment at the Pasadena Humane Society:

(Arcadia, Bradbury, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, Monrovia, Pasadena, San Marino, Sierra Madre and South Pasadena)

If you live outside those cities you will be charged a nominal fee. Also, pitbulls and chihuahuas are FREE of charge!
